Maritime Navigation Department

Establishment Date:

One of the departments of the Institute, established in 2006.

Mission:

To achieve excellence in the fields of marine navigation sciences and ship command, and to expand the horizons of scientific research. This is to supply the labor market with graduates possessing the skills and abilities that enable them to serve the community and the environment.

Objectives:

The department aims to graduate competent personnel capable of working at sea on ships or onshore maritime installations through the following:

·        Preparing academically qualified personnel to undertake professional responsibilities as navigators capable of working in the maritime field.

·        Developing the department's educational program in line with international standards requirements and contributing to community and environmental services.

·        Raising the level of teaching performance, attracting distinguished scientific competencies, and improving professional ethics.

·        Contributing to efforts made to develop the marine navigation profession through cooperation with official professional bodies in the field of regulating professional practices.

Future Vision for the Department:

Excellence and leadership in providing marine navigation sciences that keep pace with development according to quality standards.
